ABOUT THE SEMINAR
SESOIL and AT123D Modeling
ESCI, LLC is offering a four-hour training seminar. The purpose of this course is to demonstrate
the use of the SESOIL and AT123D models for the development of site-specific cleanup objectives
of contaminated soil under the Ohio's Voluntary Action Program (VAP).
Attendees will receive 4.0 hours of PDHUs.
The cost of this course is $150.
|
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
-
Hydrogeologists
-
Engineers
|
-
Regulators
-
Project Managers
|
The overall goal of the course is to provide exposure to practical methods for the development of site-specific cleanup objectives.
Those experienced in modeling will benefit from an introduction to the capabilities
of SEVIEW 7.1.
|
The SESOIL and AT123D models were used by the Ohio EPA to develop default soil cleanup objectives. To ensure adequate protection of groundwater quality throughout the state the default soil cleanup objectives were based on the worst case scenario. Essentially the default soil cleanup objectives represent a first cut. Application of such conservative cleanup concentrations would likely result in costly remedial actions that may not be warranted. Environmental consultants can use SESOIL and AT123D to develop site-specific soil cleanup objectives based on site properties. For most locations this will result in higher soil cleanup concentrations while maintaining protection of groundwater quality. In other cases it may indicate that a serious threat to groundwater exists. The SEVIEW software is used by regulatory agencies and consultants throughout the world, including the Ohio EPA.

SEVIEW 7.1
As with the previous course training will focus on the use of the ESCI SEVIEW software. However the capabilities of SEVIEW have been greatly enhanced. New features in version 7.1include:
- Graphical depiction of soil and groundwater sources on a base map
- Addition of points of compliance
- Multiple contaminant sources (any combination of soil and groundwater)
- Ability to toggle contaminant sources on/off without rerunning the models
- Capabilities to export model results (both data and graphs)
- Creation of SEVIEW project files containing all input and output files
- Enhanced version of SESOIL and AT123D
SEVIEW can now be used to perform groundwater modeling using AT123D. As with previous versions the SESOIL vadose zone model can also be used on its own or linked to AT123D.
|
You will receive a course handout of the entire presentation and a certificate of attendance. Although this is not a hands-on course you can contact ESCI to schedule a 1.5 hour phone based training session using the trial version of SEVIEW 7.1
