SESOIL to MODFLOW/MT3D Link
SEVIEW contains the only link between the SESOIL vadose zone model and MODFLOW/MT3D. This link is versatile enough that it can be used with almost any groundwater transport and fate model with provisions for varying loads. Groundwater Transport and Fate ModelMODFLOW is a three-dimensional finite-difference groundwater model. It can simulate steady state and transient flow conditions in irregularly shaped aquifers. Individual aquifer layers can be confined, unconfined, or a combination of confined and unconfined. Influence from external stresses, such as flow to wells, areal recharge, evapotranspiration, flow to drains, and flow through river beds, can be simulated. Hydraulic conductivities or transmissivities for any layer may differ spatially and be anisotropic. Establish Site-Specific Cleanup ObjectivesMODFLOW (MT3D or RT3D) can now utilize the time-dependent contaminant release rates from the SESOIL vadose zone model as load to groundwater. Users can establish varying time step lengths. This means that the MODFLOW time step do not need to be set to one month when linked to SESOIL.
