Modeling News for Cleanup Standards
  Welcome!
SESOIL | AT123D | SEVIEW | ESCI

Case Study
This case study looks at the Badger Army Ammunition Plant which was built to produce rocket propellants. Initially cleanup objectives were based on detection limits or background concentrations. With the advent of risk-based cleanup objectives it became clear that these concentrations may not be protective of the environment. As such transport and fate modeling and statistical methods were used to establish site-specific cleanup objectives.

Modeling was performed using SESOIL and AT123D in SEVIEW. SEVIEW was selected for several reasons including: easy of use, and because SESOIL was used to develop baseline cleanup objectives in Wisconsin. Use of the site-specific cleanup values provides for improved environmental protection along with as much as a $30 million cost savings. SEVIEW simplified modeling and assisted in report preparation making the job much easier.
